Public access Mineralogy/Mineral Science/Earth Materials videos by MSA members and others to supplement classes in mineralogy and petrology. Students anywhere can use these to study, or instructors can use them for their courses.
Elements Magazine is an international magazine of mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry.
Published bimonthly, every issue explores a theme of broad and current interest. Elements publishes invited peer-reviewed articles for each thematic collection of papers. Topics of interest can be proposed to the editors who will review every proposal submitted.
Elements also presents regular features including a opinion articles, calendar of events, short course announcements, awards, conference reports, policy news, as well as news of the 18 participating societies.
Reviews in Mineralogy & Geochemistry (RiMG) is a series of multi-authored, soft-bound volumes containing concise reviews of the literature and advances in theoretical and/or applied mineralogy, crystallography, petrology, and geochemistry. The content of each volume consists of fully developed text which can be used for self-study, research, or as a text-book for graduate-level courses. RiMG volumes are typically produced in conjunction with a short course but can also be published without a short course. The series is jointly published by the Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) and the Geochemical Society.
Abstracts & Online Deposits are available to everyone.
Access is free to the Articles in the American Mineralogist from 1916 to 1999.
Articles published in 2000-Present are restricted to Subscribers and Members.

Volume 86: Triple Oxygen Isotope Geochemistry. Triple Oxygen Isotope Geochemistry is a young and rapidly evolving field and some of the observations reported in this volume will undoubtedly be modified in the future as new discoveries and improved protocols are developed in the coming years. The triple oxygen isotope concepts presented in this volume, however, will hopefully prove valuable to new entrants in this field and lay a foundation for future growth.
An Introduction to the Methods of Optical Crystallography, by F. Donald Bloss, was first published in 1961. That edition still stands as a classic in the field. It is technically sound and the explanations are, for the most part, clear and understandable even to a typical sophomore-level geology major. The 1961 edition was reprinted, but not revised, in 1967, and for many years it remained a widely used textbook for undergraduate courses in optical mineralogy.
Mineralogy and Optical Mineralogy is a college-level textbook designed for courses in rocks and minerals, mineralogy, and optical mineralogy. It covers crystallography, crystal chemistry, systematic mineralogy, and optical mineralogy. The textbook is organized to facilitate spiral learning, with introductory through advanced chapters on each of these four topics. A chapter on hand sample identification is also included.
Sneak Peak:
Chapter 1. External Symmetry
Chapter 2. Crystal Classes, Axes, and Systems
Chapter 3. Crystal Nomenclature and Calculations
Chapter 4. Crystal Projections
